The Beauty of Intimate Spaces.
blog, Ramblings, UncategorizedIf there’s one thing that you can’t tell just by staring at me, it’s the undying love I have for Kelly Clarkson. I love her, her music, her voice, her personality, her talents, her concerts, everything. I don’t know when it started, however, it had to have been around the time she won Idol. It’s a musical interest that has made a lot of people laugh, for obvious reasons, but I love her nonetheless. Always have, always will. Idol days to dyin’ days.
Charlie and A Game of Cricket.
blog, Ramblings, UncategorizedThere is many-a-convo one can hear while touring the Biltmore. I mean, it’s a great place for family and friends but sometimes you’ll overhear certain things from other visitors that stick in your mind just because they’re so prominent: like one older lady that seemed to proclaim to the entire courtyard “Well I haven’t been on my feet this much since nineteen-eighty-five!” Or the small child that lost his mind when news was broken to him that the lions by the front door didn’t come alive at night (a claim I can neither prove nor disprove myself).
The Castle in my Backyard.
blog, Ramblings, TravelWhen I was a little kid, my dad loved to play a band called Saga. He still does. The cover of their album Worlds Apart has a woman on it with bright lips, wearing aviators that reflects an antique map and outer space. Dad didn’t play it too frequently in our presence but when he did, us kids would recognize the opening song instantly, even if we couldn’t recall anything else on the album. He would show us the cover and we would all say in unison “oh yeah, the one with the lady on it!…” or something like that.
To this day, I love that record. I own it on vinyl and it’s one of my most favorite.
For the love of trees.
blog, Ramblings, UncategorizedAt the risk of sounding immodest, I hike a lot.
Like, a lot. I love it. I think about trails constantly. At this moment, I’m thinking about my next outing. While you’re reading this, I’m probably out there, somewhere, amongst mountains and trees and rocks and wild things. Maybe even a coastline. It’s exhilarating and frightening and calming and exciting all at once.
I did It.
blog, Ramblings, UncategorizedNearly a year and a half ago, I publicly said that I would start this blog. A year and a half ago! I could lie and say that I really was just too busy or couldn’t find the time to sit down and simply write;
